This hits home as an Iranian. Tankies seem to really like the Islamic Regime because it opposes Israel.
The absolute conspiracy brain of tankies to believe that the U.S. propaganda machine is so powerful that everyone in it knows the exact opposite of the truth about the rest of the world but somehow the correct facts made it to the public forums the tankies browse.
Pretty impressive considering the US is literally a failed state with an economic system due to collapse any minute now from the internal contradictions

Khomeini used leftists’ help to overthrow the Shah and get in power and then got rid of them. They are supporting the regime that backstabbed them. What’s even funnier is that Iranian leftists sometimes praise the Islamic Republic for being “anti imperialist”. Like the Islamic Republic didn’t help Asad remain in power in Syria, or use Hezbollah to meddle in Lebanon. The Islamic Republic fights against western imperialism because it wants to create its own empire.
Opposing Israel is cool. Wish more countries would do it
Still, opposing Israel is not an excuse to ignore the crimes committed by the Islamic Republic. As an example, The Islamic Republic was allied with Assad.

Yep. In general I do not like the current government. However, do keep in mind this government is a direct result of a coup orchestrated by the US and Britain. We like to oust communist / socialist governments for right wing autocrats.

They are far from being beyond criticism. The only time I’m on their side is when it’s iran vs. usa/israel/saudi because those 3 are way worse than iran
For the US and Saudi they’re really not, sure they’re way worse than the average country but nothing compared to what Iran are doing, and frankly Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran are all so far down the tyrrany slope that it’s hard to justify being on any of their sides for anything
