What’s even funnier is that Iranian leftists sometimes praise the Islamic Republic for being “anti imperialist”. Like the Islamic Republic didn’t help Asad remain in power in Syria, or use Hezbollah to meddle in Lebanon. The Islamic Republic fights against western imperialism because it wants to create its own empire.
It’s especially bizarre considering what lengths the Islamic Republic has went through to suppress leftists.
