  • Sorry but I don’t follow. What do you mean?

The entire idea of “restricting information” to protect investments of investors is fundamentally flawed. There’s no way to do that other than is brute force (what we do right now by just bullying people who do it) and good luck brute forcing billions of free data streams from billions of people, some coming from jurisdictions you have no control over. The critical mass has been reached.

What are they going to do? and I mean this as a legitimate questions as someone with a computer science degree. There’s no technical solution and there’s no political solution. The last grasps of these LLM lawsuits are just last chances to grab some free lawsuit money. It’s done. Game over copyright.

  • Yeah I doubt it tbh. I loved my time with stackoverflow and it landed me jobs and friends but I’m quite bullish when it comes IT and AI. It’s not replacing devs yet but definitely replacing q&a, debugging tools, code reviews etc already/soon.

I hope we’ll have some open social coding experience like SO but trends seem to point towards more private stuff like coaching, bookcamps, shitty discord servers etc. as that’s the only thing that can be funded sustainably.

  • I had 40k points on SO though I no longer contribute. Stackexchange is basically dead because it’s a for-profit with very poor direction and LLMs basically made the entire thing obsolete relative to the monetary growths it needs to be sustainable. Understandably they can’t attract any attention like this as they’re 🤏 from going under.

I feel a bit sad for stackexchange but they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think stackexchange has their days numbered tho so this is realy not all that relevant. Give them a year or two tops

  • Fair point but I don’t think it applies here. Balanced doesn’t necessarily mean a compromise.

In your first example Golden Mean would be to take antibiotics until you are fully cured not less not more.

Same for your second example. Going too far in autocracy would could mean efficiency but also injustice and going too far into democracy could mean nothing ever gets accomplished due to endless indecision. This is exactly what elective democracy is so effective imo as it’s a Golden Mean of these two edges.

That’s what Golden Mean means - the center is where magic happens and the edges are always full of failure.

We known since our very inception that balanced takes are the most healthy and efficient path forward from Aristotels Golden Mean to Taoist’s balance in all things and this awesome quote by Carl Sagan here as well.

Yet here we are, in a time where it should be the easiest option we have all sort of idiots from alt right to tankies. The fact that these people have such strong voices is simply degeneration no matter how you look at it.
