I will say it’s the cheapest for value when considering the services offered. Coming from consoles, I have found for years I can almost always get a game on PC for Steam either through Steam or countless other sites ridiculously cheaper than any console, including sales. That alone is nice, and slightly cheaper on lesser launchers does nothing for me.

I’ve even done the math in the last few years comparing prices on PC to sale prices on Playstation and my PC build has essentially been paid for in savings difference. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve bought a game on Steam or maybe Fanatical for like $2.99 when on Playstation it was on SALE for $29.99 and it’s nuts.

As for Steam versus others on PC like Epic, it then becomes about the service. Initially it was nice to have a central launcher, then the free cloud saves. Over the years, the Steam custom controller profiles have become a pricelessly useful feature, and sharing/borrowing others control profiles, and then the Steam Link (physical box) to play across my house and later the Steam Deck have added immense amounts of quality to my gaming experience.

Also on rare occasion Steam Workshop has been nice, and saving my own Notes attached to games, Proton to make old games work, the first Steam game I ever bought was delisted from the store a decade ago and is still in my account and downloadable, central source for news for a game (the updates), the community content for games, ability to refund games, ability to gift games, ability to ignore games in the store, and on and on.

Finally, we’re on the third console gen since I first started my Steam account, and I can still see and play all of my Steam games since the beginning on a PC that is NOT my original PC I started with. Whereas on Playstation I absolutely cannot play my PS3 games on my PS5, and for sure Nintendo wants us to rebuy the same games for another console gen.

All of it adds up and just makes Steam (currently) better for me than all the alternatives and it’s why I have not bought anything on my Playstation for years now and will likely not be buying the next console.

My PSLF is getting done a full year early due to the various waivers making more months count. Tons of people have gotten relief. Immense amounts has been done to help people.

Of course more can and should be done, but people should also recognize what HAS been done and want more of that.

Just because something isn’t 100% perfect, doesn’t mean anything else would be better. But of course people are idiots.

People are morons for doing these things and expecting any privacy.

I’ve played this game to 100% both on the original release, and this re-release.

It’s one of my favorite action rpg’s out there. It’s not special. It never did anything new, really. It originally released around the same time as Skyrim and got forgotten. I still have always felt this game is better and more fun than people give credit for. It’s huge, has tons to do, has bright colorful biomes, goofy characters, silly stories, cool effects, and is just such a charming thing.

Some of my love for it is that it’s just a simple fun accessible action rpg. Some is I genuinely liked the stories. Some of it I liked how cliche and cheesy it was at times. And back when it first released, some of it was just nice to see some actual color compared to Skyrim back then, which I was also playing.

The original release had 2 DLC’s. This is the re-release called Re-Reckoning, which inherently included the original 2 DLC’s, amd then a bit later they did a new DLC called Faresworn that the original release never had. This is from that most recent DLC story and area.

It honestly is a large DLC that overstays its welcome. I know a lot of people think this game is kind of meh to begin with, but if someone enjoyed the original game and story, I think they’ll like the DLC because it has some more closure on the story and it does introduce some neat new gameplay mechanics.

The issue is you gotta really stick with it. It starts out fun to explore a new area, and then eventually you reach this point where it becomes a bit frustrating, but as you get through it, some stuff unlocks and it becomes really cool gameplay-wise. Also there’s a middle semi-grindy part where it felt like the difficulty got unfair, but after some unlocks involved in the grindy pary it got fun again and really became something else.

I think it could have been done a bit better, but overall as a fan of the original game, I enjoyed myself. You just unfortunately gotta push through to the end to get past this kind of middle part that drags.

There’s lots of fun and ridiculous characters too. I think they did a great job having it really feel like it fits the goofy theme of the game world even though it wasn’t the original team.

I’ve watched gamers en masses say this shit for 15+ years, and you know what’s interesting? These companies STILL do it.

EA still sucks. Ubisoft still sucks. Layoffs are still happening. Corporatization still rules. DLC still went rampant. Games as a service still is a thing.

Decades ago they were hiding under desks fearing nuclear bombs. To a 5 year old, why’s it any different?

Before that some groups were assaulted for attempting to go to school. Before that there was hardly any school and instead kids worked jobs.

Yes, this is late game where it’s easy to max out before the end. I will say I liked the progression in game. You certainly have to work a bit to get there, but then it’s satisfying.

My understanding is a remaster would involve enhanced visuals, maybe re-recorded lines and such, but otherwise is the same exact game and engine.

A remake would be starting over from scratch, rebuilding with perhaps a new engine, more than a face-lift.

I find remakes to usually have slightly larger maps, more fluid gameplay, maybe new features that didn’t exist in the original.

I think there’s a place for good remakes and remasters, especially for very old games, and games not originally released on many platforms. But the industry has come to abusing them just to churn out more.
