Personal project: trying to get OP-TEE to work on a rpi3. Seems like there’s some known issues in my way of success. It’s annoying. But once it’s working, I’ve got some experiments I’d like to try out.

Feeling very alone, lots of sting emotions this week. But I’m slowly turning it around and getting things completed. Rough week, and trying to stay kind to myself. I haven’t gone to the gym or been outside, and eating junk. Hard habits to break when I get into a funk.
Got back from vacation yesterday. Today, the Blue Angels are practicing for their show (exhibition? Not really sure what they call it). Super fun to get to watch them play in the sky all day.
Ha! Enjoy it! Sounds like it’ll be fun!
I’ll third this. I get this message on just about every website.
Ha! Very appropriate response.
It’s too bad the programs that actually help people aren’t given more money and people to make it large scale. Instead, we get this.
Congratulations!! May you get to pick which ever job you prefer!
So… I’m also not a climate scientist, but I also research dynamical systems within a time-based series (computer scientist). All of the research on this is very difficult to read, but it all sort of leads up to the fact that we are approaching some sort of tipping point where the system, in this case climate, will bifurcate. Meaning things will be different and can turn into chaos (chaos theory).
I’ve spoken with Dr. Edward Ott at University of Maryland on his work with climate change, and I’ve spoke with chaos theory researchers at University of Arizona. It’s all very abstract, and it’s difficult to predict what this actually means for the climate and for us.
I was offered a promotion. Looks good on the resume, no extra pay and a lot more headache. I’m already burnt out, have no motivation, etc. I wish I could take like 3-6 months off to just reset and level out. But that’s not in the cards for me.
This was my first thought. All of our data is already on a marketplace for companies to buy and sell. What is stopping any government agency, federal or smaller from simply participating in this?
We need to fix the root of the problem if this is to be stopped.
Your comment makes me wonder if one could get around AT by installing faraday cages around where the chips are.
I block telemetry on my IoT devices and they still work. I’m curious if cars would be bricked if they couldn’t call home, or if you could selectively allow certain messages through.
No snark here.
Technology is fun and interesting. AI is interesting and there’s a lot of research going on right now.
But I noticed the same things you do. Many people seem to be “anti-humanity”. We as people need workers protections, better social programs, and more so terrible consequences of these technologies don’t harm us. Technology should be used to help people and societies thrive not for the elite to keep even more power.
Beehaw may not be perfect. And you have a great example of why beehaw should leave the fediverse. But beehaw is the only place I’ve found where we can have civil discussion on topics. Much of the toxicity introduced in beehaw come from non beehaw users. I enjoy my time here, but it’s not for everyone. If you leave, I hope you find a space that’s best for you.
Yeah, very stupid, unless it’s for military applications where there’s no guarantee of power to recharge a phone everyday. I doubt this would be used for the everyday person. But if it is, I’m real curious to see the impact, especially for the people who store their phone in a pocket.
With the exception of the listed medical devices, all the other use cases point to military, and it would make sense to have such a battery in that environment.
Medical devices definitely make me ask your question.
It actually doesn’t. China is a very diverse and beautiful country. CCP is an ugly government.
In my circle, we are eating less “junk” the prices are absurd. Chips were replaced with different snacks, no more soda. It’s all the same price or more expensive than fruit, trail mix and other alternatives. And I thought Tyson’s was overpriced junk 10+ years ago. I can’t imagine what it’s like now.
Sometimes being alone is better than drama. Take the time to enjoy yourself. Don’t frame this as a negative. Go and do something you enjoy. Read a book while enjoying a cup of tea, watch movies, go out somewhere. The possibilities are many.
Thank you!! I did well, so I’m very excited!
That sums it up well.
I’m all for research, it’s good to have proven methods to say “hey, this is not healthy”. But this is a no brainer. I always assume that even a healthy option at a restaurant is worse (high fat, high salt, high added sugars) than anything I’d make myself.
Nobody is kidding themselves into thinking any of these places are healthy.
