  • Okay… but like you get the whole thing where you can’t really have an informed opinion on something you didn’t watch, right? You don’t have to comment on things you don’t want to watch or read.

I’m happy for you and your wife! Super weird projecting though, where you equate promiscuity with cheating and short term relationships. I do enjoy short term sexual relationships on occasion, so I like to make sure I’m doing the things my partners want done. After all, you never know someone’s past or preferences.

No one ever said anything about getting consent to change positions and certainly not in a long term, committed relationship. They said consenting to a blowjob didn’t imply consent to other sexual acts. In fact, it’s in the criminal code. That’s probably why the prosecutor brought it up:

Sections 276 to 276.5 of the Criminal Code govern the admission of evidence regarding a sexual assault complainant’s other sexual activity. The Code makes it clear that evidence that a complainant has engaged in sexual activity is not admissible to suggest that the victim was more likely to have consented to the sexual activity which is the subject matter of the charge or that he/she is less worthy of belief.

  • Why should users of this instance spend their leisure time with people who not only want to take away their rights, but label themselves as such? A label that tags their user name regardless of what they’re saying.

Why should we, as users of this instance, ever allow someone who visibly declares their support for hateful politics, to engage with the most vulnerable among us in the first place?

MAGA policies are killing women. I’m a woman. I see someone calling themselves MAGA and I see someone who supports stripping away my autonomy and letting me die.

Everyone can join as many instances as they want if they believe defederating from hate speech enthusiasts is creating an echo chamber.

That’s a pretty innacurate assessment of Rowling, as much as I dislike her.

There’s this whole thing people do whenever we watch someone fall from grace, scrutinizing their past through the bias of the present to find “clues,” so we can better avoid people like that in the future.

But JK was and still is fairly progressive. A number of people close to her have said her opinions on trans people were, in part, radicalized as a result the fame that exposed her to vitriolic opposition.

I want to be very clear there is no excuse for what she’s done or said about trans people, only that it’s innacurate to say her shitty views came in a package deal and have always been the same.
