Im Jahr 2017 wurde mit den Tests von Oberleitungs-Lkw an der B462 bei Kuppenheim begonnen. 2024 lief die Finanzierung aus. Jetzt wird die Teststrecke abgebaut.
It’s relatively unusual that trucks pass by cars on the Autobahn because trucks have a maximum speed limit of 80 km/h and there is a general minimum speed limit of 60 km/h. In fact, it is very uncommon that there is a vehicle slower than 80 km/h.
I’m just thinking how something like this would work where I live. Here, trucks can go up to 105km/h. When I’m pulling my trailer, I usually go at 100, so everyone needs to overtake me. There were instances when a small hill started the moment a truck was overtaking me, so I quickly reduced my speed to allow the truck to pass, but the truck was on the left lane overtaking me.
It is also meant to not be on the whole Autobahn system. It is meant to be for only a few kilometers for recharging while driving and after that trucks could overtake again. I think the idea is to not take away too much haul capacity from E-Trucks by batteries.

Technically not correct: your car needs to be able to do 60kph to enter the Autobahn, but you’re not required to go at least those 60kph.
