Recently I was simultaneously banned from a huge pile of “communities” with a mod commentary “for upvoting homophobic materials”(or “transphonic”, I don’t remember exactly). This kind of bans is the very reason why I quit Reddit. Is it normal here, or is it just some feral mod from Reddit?
P.S. Before you sidestep/offtop/ad-hominem here: no, I have nothing against LGBT folk and absolutely not interested in the theme.
Yes, this is a new account.
Okay.
I assume your previous account was @Lembot_0001@lemm.ee, which was instance banned from lemmy.ml. The administrator was davel. You can try and ask him if it bothers you, maybe even appeal your ban. Your new account most likely will be instance banned again if you try and engage in lemmy.ml communities again, given your username is pretty much the same.
Honestly, we got lots of active alternatives to lemmy.ml communities, as the majority here hates lemmy.ml. Don’t be surprised if you get banned from lemmy.ml again. Check out !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com
Yes, it was.
Arguing with moderators/administrators is mostly just a humiliating waste of time. I’ll pass :)
Lemmy.ml has been known for arbitrary bans for a while; https://feddit.nl/post/16246531
You’ll be fine on lemm.eeThat said, seems like you’re a transphobe, so you’ll probably get banned from lemm.ee as well
Bonus: measured response under a post about a keyboard lmao
Yeah, in the meantime people pointed that OP is indeed transphobic. OP will probably get banned from lemm.ee as well
I edited my comment above
I love the imagery of someone coming all politely to the help desk when their post history is flaming garbage.
“why doesn’t anyone want to host or see my bullshit?! help!”
I’m starting to see some kind of trend with people being mad about the moderation on hexbear and .ml
Very curious indeed.
Very curious indeed. If we take a look at !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works (is this how I link communities?) we can see several posts from the last couple hours alone of people getting banned for sane takes and attempts at discussion. Truly, it’s a wonder that anyone would be upset by this
Imagine going to communities that sometimes literally have rules like “not being a liberal”, in a lemmy server made specifically for people to discuss a specific type of socio-economic structure, and then being mad when you get banned for not following the rules.
On some of those communities, your opinions are not welcomed, that’s way people get banned.
If the mods were to become softer on bans, every post would have the same infinite discussion about the same thing over and over again. If I wanted to see an endless amount of liberal takes, I would just use one of my backup accounts on other lemmy servers.
Lemmygrad and Hexbear have a different scope, they are mostly for people who don’t want to get on internet fights all the time, and in order to preserve the good vibes, unwanted people get banned. No reason to be surprised about it.
Let’s take a look at one of those posts (since you obviously didn’t)
The comment in question is in response to a post that says “Capitalism is the root of evil” and says
This person’s comment was removed and they were banned from the community, with the only explanation being “Rule 1”
Now the mod who banned this person was Dessalines, who is an admin for .ml, not a mod for the Memes community, so I’m not sure if they are referring to the Meme community’s rule 1 or lemmy.ml rule 1, so let’s take a look at both.
Lemmy.ml Rule 1:
I’m failing to see how the original comment relates to any of the listed terms or what this has to with “not being a liberal.” If you disagree, please enlighten me
Memes Rule 1:
I can only see civility in the comment and, once again, nothing about “don’t be a liberal”
Is the fog starting to lift yet or are you still going to be intentionally dense about why people don’t like you?
