Not the best, not the worst. The one that most makes you go “meh, you’re ok”. Or the one you keep forgetting exists.

I read a comment that said that Ohio is the US on default and I agree.

It has a bit of everything. North Coast lakeshore, rivers and wooded hills to the south, open rolling farmland to the west, a national park and biggest cities in the center, factories to the east etc. But it’s not “best in class” for any of them

    Wisconsin.

    Milwaukee is a mid city.

Madison is a mid college town.

The Dells is a mid tourist area.

And there is nothing more quintessentially American than The House on the Rock.

Wisconsin has a strong sense of identity though. I don’t think it’s mid because people know Wisconsin really well, for one reason or another. And people from Wisconsin don’t let you forget they’re from Wisconsin.

For me it’d have to be Idaho. They grow potatoes and… probably other stuff?

Idaho is surprisingly really pretty though, that’s the one stand-out thing about it imo, otherwise pretty mid.

I’d have to be basic and say Ohio. It isn’t ugly, but it isn’t pretty. The weather is average. Schools/universities are pretty average. Economy is pretty average. Politics are average. There is nothing really special or noteworthy about Ohio. They do tons of market research in Ohio because of how average it is for the US.

Idaho is awesome imo. Boise is a nice city with a lot to see and do. Southern Idaho is high desert with ranches and farms but to the north the mountains and forests are beautiful!

The state is beautiful, but the people aren’t. They grow potatoes and neo-nazis.

I met someone online from Indiana a few years ago. Thought they meant India (they had a typo on the word) and they got confused when I asked how it was.

That’s the only experience with Indiana I’ve had that wasn’t immediately forgotten.

I low-key googled it to make sure it’s actually a state.
