I have a Powkiddy v90, an Anbernic RG300X, a Powkiddy RGB30, A Miyoo a30 and a Miyoo Mini V4. I had but sold a Retroid Pocket 4.
I love the Powkiddy v90. I mostly play NES, Sega Genesis, Pico 8 (Celeste), DOOM 1 and 2, and Quake on this device. The software is stellar in my opinion. The devs did alot of good work making gmenu2x super customizable. It runs on an SD card with BTRFS which makes it rock solid. I would carry this device with me every day if it felt more durable. The controls are kinda mediocre but not bad once I got used to them.
I liked the Anbernic RG300X when I got it. The size and form factor is about perfect but it’s software experience doesn’t hold up compared to my other devices any more. The controls feel great although the face buttons have a not normal layout.
The Powkiddy RGB30 is pretty good. I really like playing Quake with Quakespasm on this device. The controls are kinda mediocre on this device though, everything kinda feels too small and below average build quality. This battery is usually dead when I want to use it so I have to charge it first.
The Miyoo a30 and the Miyoo Mini V4 are both pretty great with MinUI. They are both small and they both came with cases and are small enough to carry with me in my pocket in the case. I don’t really know which one I like better and I carry either one with me most days. The controls on these are extremely good. Shoulders are very awkward on the miyoo mini though…
I thought the Retroid Pocket 4 was good, the sticks were great, it could play PSP, but I really hate Android devices so I got rid of it.
I have an Anbernic RG35XX H and I really love it. Great controls, runs even Dreamcast games pretty well, portable and good battery life. I wish the screen was a little bigger, but for $50-60 it’s a great value.
Anbernic RG353VS - I’m using a third party OS and it’s my go-to handheld when the steam deck is inappropriate. Fits my hands and plays my favorite games. I love it for GBA and SNES.
PowKiddy RGB30 - second choice. I like the bigger screen and it’s a 720x720 screen that works great with game boy. I use a third party OS and play a lot of Pico -8 stuff on it too.
PowKiddy RK2023 - Adequate, not Great. Boots slow. Doesn’t feel good in the hands.
PowKiddy v90 - practically e-waste. Processor too anemic to run SNES. GBA emu was fine. Plastic so cheap I fear the stupid thing would shatter with a short drop.
I’ve got an RG 405M from Anbernic and it’s pretty dope. Just wish the screen were slightly larger.
I’ve got an Analogue Pocket and I quite like it
I got a retroid pocket 3+ a while ago and it’s really fun, pretty much perfect for psp games.
I’ve been eyeing the Odin 2 pro and the pocket 5 lately as PS2, Wii, and 3ds games didn’t work great on the 3+ and there’s a couple of those I’m very nostalgic for. Leaning towards the Odin as it looks a lot more ergonomic to hold, my hands tend to cramp after a while with the 3+.
