I like to ask a variety of questions, sometimes silly, serious, and/or strange. Never asking in an attempt to pester or “just asking questions” stuff.

I’m generally curious and/or trying to get a sense of people’s views.

  • Aside from personally posting more regularly there, any advice or ideas for getting !likethismaylike@lemm.ee going? Had a few people early on posting and even some people beside myself replying to them, but it rapidly trailed off from there and felt a little too much like I was only using it for myself.

Started to make other types of post to help show it’s as much for sharing as asking, but while the posts had some passive positive attention, it didn’t net much more activity.

  • Libraries don’t allow noise.

Have you been to your local libraries lately to check on this? I know it’s one of those details libraries are well known for, but some libraries are more relaxed about this, so long as events aren’t going on or you’re not being so loud as to be a disturbance to others.

It may seem weird to ask, but next time you visit your library you might find a way to ask if they’re the shush sort of library or an in-door voices are okay sort (supposing they don’t already have signage to tell you which).

Are doctorate/grad school programs distinctly competitive? My impression was that they were more challenging but similar in nature to undergrad insofar as loads of coursework to stay on top of to complete courses and ensure you got some of the most expensive, “You endured it!” paperwork in the world.
