After almost 700 episodes playing Bart’s bespectacled and beleaguered best friend, the voice actor is moving on to other opportunities

It’s insanity that the Simpsons is still in production. How many people are still watching it? I’ve found most people under 30 have never seen a single episode, many have never even heard of it

I still watch. I never stopped watching. It looks like it averages 1.7 million viewers on average, which has been decreasing over time.

I don’t really hang out with people under 30, but they’re missing out. Sure the new episode are just good, but the classics are still the classics.

But also at 34 (and counting) years it’s the longest-running animated American series, longest-running American sitcom, and longest-running scripted primetime series. Never having heard of it is a huge gap.

I tried watching it again years ago and went most of the episode without a laugh. It just wasn’t funny. I heard they’ve improved in the last couple years but who cares at this point

The show’s quite a bit older than me, but I decided to watch the whole thing.

There was that really long stretch where it was almost unwatchable, peaking around the “Elon Musk is a genius” episode IMO.

Then at S33 or S34 I was surprised by how it just became good again…

There was a point where it felt like every week there was some new flavor of the month celebrity or pop star meeting the Simpsons and it put me off.
