I will burn on this hill. It’s a mystery/suspense film.
A movie can be more than one genre. It can be both a mystery and a horror film.
But it isn’t.
The movie is about a cult that sacrifices people. A ton of horror movies involve the main character(s) figuring out a mystery with a ton of suspense along the way and the horror being revealed at the end.
Define horror.
I think it’s folk horror. There’s horrific bits in it.
It is. You’re wrong. It’s literally the pinnacle of folk horror.
It’s only horror if it has a Frankenstein or a Wolfman in it
Otherwise it’s just sparkling drama?
What critical elements of horror is it lacking? Gore? Jump scares?
I’d very much like to know why you think it isn’t horror? I can understand why you attribute mystery/suspense to it, but that doesn’t preclude it being horror. What are examples of movies you do consider horror?
