Just watch out for the mosquitoes, ticks, flies, leeches, thorns, and poison ivy!
Oooh, love this blackberries! Love to turn them into jam!
Good haul on the mushrooms, and those blackberries look really healthy!
Yeah the number of blackberries was stunning. I had to leave before they fully ripened but in a few days I think there will be enough for multiple pies. There were thousands of berries.
That is incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever come across such an abundance like that.
I’m getting pretty good thimbleberries and blueberries right now though, which I’m really happy about 😁
Nice! I love thimbleberries. Always wanted to bake with them since I love their flavor—my wife calls them electric raspberries. But I’ve never been able to find more than a nibble.
They’re so good! I’ve heard they can be found in Minnesota, among other places.
It’s kind of been a tough season for them I think. They were popping really well, and then we had a pretty good dry spell for a while so they got kind of shrivel-y.
I think it’s interesting when you catch them just before they go bad and they have a fermented flavor to them.
North woods of Maine? If so, howdy!
Wisconsin, so about as far as can be within the region, but I’m sure we have some similar species!
Oh, I was inducted long ago… by my grandmother.
But really, there’s nothing particularly similar to these mushrooms you could mix them up with unless you’re totally oblivious.
You should definitly make a post of that on !mycology@mander.xyz !
There is a lot of Blackberry thorn around me and I was really expecting to eat the Berry but not of it produce anything. That’s a really wird niehbourhood…
