I like to let Spotify leave my playlist and just have it play whatever so I can add new songs to my playlist.
But from time to time it’ll play songs from some religious band (Usually Christian rock or Christian rap or something). The annoying part is it’ll sound pretty good, until I start paying attention to the lyrics and then I realize it’s a propaganda song lol and have to block the artist and move on.
Anybody know of a good list of religious artists on Spotify so I can write a script to block them ahead of time? (Or even better an existing FOSS project to do just that lol)
Uh. lol. I think Spotify’s recommendation algorithm isn’t up to the task and isn’t providing me with good playlists… But it’s never ever recommend Christian rock to me. Guess I listen to too much metal. Or it’s based on location or something like that.
Maybe use the ‘⊖’ Dislike button everytime this happens and hope the algorithm learns? I’d also consider adding some Dimmu Borgir or Pagan Metal to the heavy rotation 😆
I try to, but my tastes cross …pretty much all major genres from Pop to rap to even a bit of metal, so I think the algo has a difficult time locking on lmao. My “curated” playlist is just 1 giant playlist that I put all songs that I like onto lolol
Curious the songs in question so I can view the lyrics. I’d be curious if it’s simply working out of sound alone and not taking the lyrics in question when you’re liking and disliking things. Also a lot of Christian values are just things stable people acknowledge are the right things to do in life lol.

I was going to look up what artist I just blocked, but apparently you can’t see a list of what you’ve blocked on any of the apps, I have to go through and request my data and wait for them to deliver a zip file ugh lmao

blocked usersedit: oh are you referring to the “don’t play this artist” button? if so, yeah, i don’t see a list of artists you’ve selected that on.
When I had Spotify, if it played religious music for me, it was usually Bach or the like.
You must have listened to Mr Brightside too many times.
Er. I plead the fifth.
