Key word, is idle.
Synology… and HDD hibernation don’t really go together very well. If you have containers running, it won’t let the HDDs hibernate at all. And- I have a minio instance running.
Unless you have a wall of old nokia phones… it should be quite scary.
Eh… Mutually assured destruction.
It’s a very scary phrase.
That, is a pretty good deal. Better start picking up some MD1200s!
Its a going. One day at a time.
I agree, I’d be picking up a bunch of those, if that were the case.
esp32-c6 (supports zigbee), is pretty cheap.
No.
I wouldn’t vote for Hillary period for many reasons. Her sex is not one of them.
A random fact, I actually did vote for a woman to be president. But, it damn sure was not Hillary. There is too much stink associated with her. Too much shit swept under the rug.
I’d love to see the same comparison with more real-world use-cases.
Code golf, is mostly pretty simple use-cases, which have been optimized many times over.
When, you build out an application with a user-interface, proper event handling, etc… c++ is MUCH more verbose then c# for example, and they are ranked pretty close together.
You know, that got me curious… I went back and found the contract.
#1- There is this questionablly illegal clause in it.
But, yea, absolutely nothing in the contract about this swap-a-roo.
On the plus side, I negotiated to work remotely for a few weeks, due to needing to relocate.
So- I was actually able to work both my current job, and the “new” job without losing time for either job.
So, on the plus side, I didn’t lose anything, and got an extra paycheck for a few days. But, man, that would have been really shitty if I had relocated, and THEN got that notification.
As another interesting note, I discovered the other head-dev was only getting compensated 30-40k a year… for literally managing a world-wide system. He doesn’t work there either now.
Was a contractor for Walmart.
Got hired on as a lead dev, getting compensated 150k/yr.
2nd day, they told me I needed to switch contracts in order to stay on. New contract paid 50k salary… with lots of required OT.
But, it’s OK they said, you get benefits and PTO.
Fuck that.
yea… every modern IDE makes it extremely obvious of the unicode character…
SO… yea…
If you really wanted to be evil, zero-width space is the worst.
You don’t see it.
I built a homemade one. 2.4kwh of capacity.
Should be good for a few decades easily.
Wouldn’t call it cheap. But, it will be around for 15 or 20 years.

As long as you don’t break it, things will be just fine!
But, the second you break it, it’s going to be a long night for you, with lots of pain.
It’s very effective.
Just try not to mess up your xorg.conf.
That typically ends in pain.
My method was easy.
Completely removed and eradicated windows, and forced myself to adapt and learn Linux.
Used it for gaming and everything. No regrets.
Its only a problem when you get the electric bill! (Or the wife finds your ebay receipts)
Love my bidet.
10/10 for squeaky clean buttholes.
46 watts… but, yea, I expected lower.
But, suppose when its spinning 4x seagate exos, they like their juice.
It apparently doesn’t allow HDD hibernation while containers are running, and doesn’t appear to like to use any sleep states.
