  • Yeah this ā€œdems bad at messagingā€ line of excuses is really tired to me. If things are going good in your life you donā€™t need to be told by someone that it is, you just know it in your bones.

Conversely all the ā€œmessagingā€ in the world wonā€™t convince us things are going fine when our daily life experience is the opposite.

Dems arenā€™t bad at messaging because they are bad at getting the word out, itā€™s that decades of messaging without follow-through with measurable, noticeable increase in quality of our daily lives means we donā€™t believe the message anymore

If youā€™re someoneā€™s boss and all they ever do when they fuck up is blame others for their failures and when you bring em in your office they hand you a 10 page document explaining all the work they tried to do, pedantically explaining how youā€™re and idiot that ā€œjust doesnā€™t see all the work theyā€™ve looked into.ā€ ?? Youā€™d fuckin fire em right?

  • God iā€™ll never forget where i was when he dropped out. I had phone banked and donated and I was watching his concession speech justā€¦wrecked maaan, wrecked at how the DNC et al had ratfucked him and how tilted the game wasā€¦ and while Iā€™m saltin my booze with tears someone in the group asks him ā€œWhat do we do now?ā€ and he says something like

ā€œVote Dem, vote in your primariesā€

and my heart fell in that shitty whiskey with the rest. Maaaan, i never knew i still had faith to lose until that moment.

  • Get to know your neighbors. Organizing doesnā€™t have to mean politically, and community is the only strength we have.

Iā€™m dead serious. Get to know your neighbors. At home. At work? (lolsafely) Do less work, more talking to your co-workers about work. About whatever. But yaknow, get to know them. And probably find out you agree about a lot of the stuff thatā€™s not on tv.

Organizing isnā€™t some nebulous concept, politics isnā€™t for lawyers. Organizing (and politicking) 's justā€¦ talking to people. People who like you n me who canā€™t ā€œinfluence politicsā€ and donā€™t know how to start. But we do know what we need.

People power is right there with us every day, politics is everyday life. So get to know your neighbors

  • i used to as part of my weekend job working in an old hospital have to walk the breadth of it and at some point decided that i would try to use every single bathroom in the place. Over the course of months i found many cool nooks and quiet bathrooms but i never finished the mission because i found the PERFECT bathroom.

in the middle of an access hallway, up some narrow stairs, was a dead-end office. The only entrance was this one stairwell. Sun-facing windows looked out over the roof of the building and west, shining in on a bank of training computers. smell of warm dust and absolute quiet.

someone knew of it, cuz there was always toilet paper, but in my many trips to that special place i never saw a soul. Something about that place i canā€™t describe to you, the vibe, the feel. it was perfect. I abandoned my efforts to find better and instead would walk past other open bathrooms just to use that one again.

I still think about that room sometimes. Never been paid to poo in a better one.
