Corrected !
I only read 1984 once in French 11 years ago, so it’s a little fuzzy 😆
The main reason I don’t follow much left-leaning content online is because a lot of it is utterly depressing.
I’m sure there is a way to change the presentation of things to stop fueling doomerism without needing to outright sweep bad things under the rug.
Put more focus on the solutions than the issues, for a start. When covering the opposition, always do so by rightfully making fun of them as the clowns they indeed are. Picturing them as competent in any way indirectly gives them more power.
I personally don’t want another source of sadness and anger in my life, but I do want to be connected to other leftists and leftist ideas.
Literally 1984.
This is a textbook example of newspeak / doublethink, exactly how they use the word “corruption” to mean different things based on who it’s being applied to.
Okay, that’s fair. I guess you really can’t dissociate this measure from the wider context.
Not taxing low earners could be part of a set of positive measures, but as it is, it would just mean even less money to do things with.
As a leftist, if he were to actually do this, it generally seems like a good idea to me. (Although 150K is probably too high)
Disregarding the rest of his policies, are there any leftist arguments why this particular measure would be a bad idea ?
(Please respond politely. This doesn’t mean I like Trump, I still think he’s evil and stupid. But even Hitler himself had at least one good idea : being vegetarian.)
The Wikipedia page linked is only a few lines long, it is a bit rude to assume I haven’t read it.
The first phrase after the summary is :
This feature can occur on its own with no underlying health problems
I wouldn’t have left the comment I did if that wasn’t the case.
That’s one condition I wish I had.
EDIT : especially since the page linked says :
This feature can occur on its own with no underlying health problems
That, and polydactyly like the Da Silva family (where every finger is fully formed and controllable)
I haven’t made it a service yet (it was going to be my next step), for now I was just starting it manually ! Your suggestion works (probably, not tested yet), but I was looking for a way to have the config loaded automatically even when running the tor
command directly in a terminal (without any arguments)
Football (soccer) pitches are also all different sizes, so it’s not even a consistent measurement unit ! (Which is also true of elephants)

Gift it ! That’s what I’ve done with all the silverware I didn’t like !
I’ve gifted all the non-conforming silverware I had to other people. The only kind I have 0 issues with is IKEA’s ätbart : entirely made of stainless steel, no weird shapes, pleasing motifs on the handles. I have 2 boxes worth so far, possibly going to double that again to make sure I never run out before I die.
The worst a spoon can do in my eyes is be too circular ; I need a pointed shape so I can actually dig in !
The worst kind of silverware is those knives with only a tiny weird blade at the end, looking like a moon crescent. Yuck ! Give me a nice straight bar of a knife with teeth all along the blade, so I can properly push and cut 😅
As a GitHub replacement, I recommend Codeberg ! They’re managed by a nonprofit which you can easily join and participate in the voting. Push times are a tad longer than on GitHub, but still only take a few seconds.
I can’t speak for the CI aspect though, as I haven’t used any of GitHub’s automations. My projects are small enough that I can run the tests locally.
Seems like not heating at all may have been even more lucrative, though. Would the temperatures have dropped intolerably low if you did so ?
I’m sure there’s something to be done about the naming scheme even for Dell, though, so it’s a little easier to distinguish the products.
Admittedly I like that there is less variation. I don’t know how it is for other people, but choosing between 25 different monitors with partially overlapping feature sets is daunting, which is partially why I’m still using a 2011 TV as my only screen 😅
Probably not going with Apple when I do switch though. None of their offering has >60Hz refresh rate or HDMI 2.1 support, and I’ve never even seen any stats on their latency.
This product range is pretty bad. The USB-C is the worst one, it doesn’t have pressure sensitivity ! But you can’t really tell from the names alone.
Should’ve been Apple Pencil Pro > Apple Pencil 2 > Apple Pencil > Apple Pencil Light
They need to find a better name for their “lower end” products, because “SE” isn’t cutting it, and “iPhone 16e” just looks like a typo.
Give credit to Apple here, they’re one of the only brands with sensible product names. “Apple Studio Display” “iPhone 16” etc.
I wish more brands did this.
Shoutout to PlayStation too, but not the rest of Sony 😂
I agree with the message, but these two points following each other feels a little hypocritical:
“Amazon is supporting new nuclear plants” and “Amazon has a poor climate record”
Nuclear power is the most effective way to get out of climate change. Caring about climate change and being against nuclear power at the same time is a contradictory position to take, and needlessly puritanical.
If we could only rely on renewables, that would be very nice. That is not currently the case. We should strive to have more renewable energy, while keeping in mind nuclear power is here to stay and even be expanded as we eliminate carbon emitting sources of energy.
Wait until you try Dante’s DiGiorno Giovanna ! It traps you in a time loop where you eat it over and over again, forever. Simply delightful !
