@Emil Legislation in 2018 was that plant was scheduled to be shut down in 2025.
Gavin Newsom has done, by my estimation, nothing good as a Governor besides posturing as a progressive.
Including wanting to extend that reactor’s operation as well as mandating no new non-EV vehicle sales in 2035 (no doubt related) not to mention punching down on the homeless…
If you ever drive I-5 through the Central Valley of California, you will see numerous “Recall Newsom” signs along with “we need water for growing crops” signs in relation to apparently water rights redirections.
TL;DR California Governor Gavin Newsom is hated for a litany of reasons, if anything probably too few are paying attention to his BS around extending Diablo Canyon past its scheduled shut down.
