Aye, I have looked through this too: https://european-alternatives.eu/alternative-to/gmail
Unfortunately every service seems to have something going on that I dont like or they dont have something I want. Maybe I should just be less discerning. It doesnt help that switching is a lot of effort and bother.
I took a look at disroot but i heard about that too that there are some things about it that make it not useable to me, like them storing the mails unencrypted apparently. So that one became not an option.
Proton might be good, but after everything i have heard about that too i fear it might develop more problems later which would just have me switch again.
Tuta might be good, but I have heard about that one too that they like sending ads about their services you cant opt out so that kind of attitude doesn’t sit well with me. Not even google does that. That also has be worrying they might start enshittifying the service at some point and maybe make the free version so awful i’d have to switch again.
Many others can’t be used for free at all, which is quite important thing for service this crucial. I wish eu itself would create some email service instead of having to rely on corporations that might change their mind about anything the moment it becomes more profitable to them. Though that one would probably be very austere and definitely not have aliases as option… Why must everything it related be so annoying nowdays.
Kmail on your list seems decent. I cant seem to find a way to make account for it, only to get the client for managing other accounts unless i’m misunderstanding something.
I dont even mind this too much yet still I want to switch off from gmail. If google decided to suspend my account for some reason I would be completely fucked. Even if you love google you still should switch off from using their services because there is a chance you might lose access to them in the future if this world goes even more off its rocker.
when shit really hits the fan europe will lose access to some if not all us based services.
if its run by companies, then they can change the payment to being allowed to have food and shelter instead of money. What are people going to do, rebel? Boil the pot slowly enough and majority will accept anything, even slavery as long as you dont call it slavery.
anything ai generated just feels deeply wrong if its supposed to be anything other than wanting to see how some idea might look like. I dont listen to much music so ai generated music can sound pretty good to me, but even then I still notice that there is no unifying idea in the details, just bunch of random threads that go nowhere. There is no reason for anything to be there in ai generated content because there can’t be any reason since ai can’t do anything by itself. Its so stupid they even call it ai because there is no intelligence involved.
not damaging a car, what he considers attacking his ego by damaging his worthless scrap heaps. Weight on the word his, as they remain his cars even if you pay for them. he can take control of them or do whatever so you literally can’t even own a tesla, only suck up to musk.
to me, ai is a bit like bucket of water if you replace the water with “information”. Its a tool and it cant do anything on its own, you could make a program and instruct it to do something but it would work just as chaotically as when you generate stuff with ai. It annoys me so much to see so many(people in general) think that what they call ai is in anyway capable of independent action. It just does what you tell it to do and it does it based on how it has been trained, which is also why relying on ai trained by someone you shouldnt trust is bad idea.
huolettaa vain että nuo ei ala suoraan sanomaan että eivät tue tuollaista. Mitä niillä on menetettävää sen suhteen?
i think so too. And even if they wouldnt be doing this, we should still treat it as if they are and fix the problem of it being even possible to gather information about users using 0-click methods like this.
cant rely on law to protect you anymore
Not really, but I have observed some commonalities about what is usually needed for what. This is also why I want to have ublock as first line of defence -> if something is blocked on that by default then its definitely something you dont want to allow anyway so its a little safer to experiment with noscript.
Also, with noscript you need to constantly adjust it when going to new websites. Default settings breaking things is more of a feature than fault to me. Its about taking more control over things rather than trusting everything by default. But after you identify what is safe to allow, you dont need to adjust more things if site itself doesnt change something which you will notice rightaway due to things breaking again.
Its really hard to list any helpful tips about what to look out for since its mostly just intuition for me and halfremembered things about what I have seen before. Its probably more helpful for each user to develop these practices themselves anyway. But test things by temporarily allowing stuff and permanently allow only those things you are relatively sure about. Also start by allowing the scripts from the main site and work your way from there.
On some sites the list of scripsites can have insane amount of entries. I tend to try stay away from those sites as its also good indication there is nothing worthwhile there anyway. If you absolutely need to use those anyway and think you should be able to trust the site due to them likely not doing anything illegal anyway, there is temporary allow everything button which basically disables noscript for that site for the session.
Also sometimes when i allow scripts, they disappear from the list. I’m not sure what that is about, maybe it has something to do with me running ublock too or it has something to do with how the scripts are loaded in general. I havent had any problems with it so I havent investigated it. Also sometimes when i allow stuff, more sites appear so its more likely something to do with how some scripts call other scripts and maybe have redundancies if some dont seem to work.
only ceasefire russia accepts on its own will be used to gather more resources for even bigger attack. They would never stop just for peace. If ukraine would stop recieving military aid just for ceasefire it would be same as forcing ukraine to surrender.
i use both ublock and noscript, ublock is much more lenient about allowing javascript so its good first line of defence. I try to allow only those javascripts that are absolutely necessary to what i want to do. So many sites have tons of unnecessary ones that do who knows what.
hmm, good to know
well, that ship sailed long ago since i have used windows. fortunately i’m switching to linux when my new computer is ready
hell would be to reincarnate back to this world
what about the encrypted traffic different programs send/recieve on my computer? is it possible to decrypt that?
i’m kind of surprised us hasnt just been disregarding the avian flu and used the diseased chickens as if there was nothing wrong, that would fit with everything else going on
I hope people aren’t using hats like that. Its like putting on a swastika armband, just with different colour scheme.
