France is becoming a far right country on two weeks. Do yourself a favor and stay as far as you can.
Come with the great migration.

I know it exists, but I’m so happy to buy a game I’ve played and finish. Pyre, Transistor, A story beside and so many others. Just as a “Thank you”.
P. S. : of you people didn’t know about it, check A Story Beside. One of the games I’ll never forget.
Empirical evidence wins out in the end but… it’s not that simple. One name said a lot about this : Thomas Kuhn. Try giving The structure of scientific revolutions a read whenever you can. It’s old and there are more contemporary work, but Kuhn is still a reference in epistemology.
This comment needs way more approval
Alternatively, people may think they’re expressing “criticism” while just being blunt and cruel. Criticism doesn’t mean belittling someone.
And I know too much about this, as a teacher. Some of my colleagues wish they were little tyrants…
And I think this exact quote is from the movie. It’s a bit different in the book IIRC, but I prefer this one.
Ohhh. That explains quite a few things.
That smile… That damn smile…
It’s indeed the name of a band
Tbh, I wouldn’t think someone calling you a fascist for voting Biden should be taken seriously. Although, as an abstentionist, I disagree with your strategy. I value other ways to act and can’t resolve myself to vote for this kind of politicians.
That being said, we have our estimates of what will actually stop fascists and what cannot. Voting, imo, is a strategy. If someday I’m not able to contribute meaningfully to the type of political endeavors I’m taking part in, I’ll probably start voting for this kind of candidates.
My own motto would be “do as you believe us best, as long as you’re trying to do something to slow down of repel the fascists. We’ll see what was and wasn’t effective later”
I don’t completely agree with your point but I feel it somehow. The question would be : what would be the opposite of this ? As you surely know, compromise, while crucial, also has its dangers.
While I agree the issue is complex and everything is not about troopers being inherently mean and brutal, sometimes, one also has to name things plainly.
Hence, ACAB. CQFD.
There isn’t a direct equivalent in my language, indeed. But isn’t that basically well, “the left” (with all its nuances) ? I often see comments about liberals from American left leaning individuals, but if it’s true that people are called out for being racists, sexists, bigots or whatever, I rarely see this accusation based on nothing, for “points” in my country. I could find one or two if I think for long enough, but in my country at least, I’d struggle to think of people being called out without even strong suspicions of dark stuff going on (sexual harassment charges, clearly racists comments, and so on). So I was wondering if the comment above was just making a classic right wing point, or if there’s indeed something specific with the American liberals.
Could you link me to one such example if you can think of one ? I’m curious.
I really don’t understand what Liberal means in an American context. I’m a certified anarchist myself, hang out with left leaning folks from all walks of life, some very moderate, some more radical than I am and I never heard these types of comments and attacks. I sincerely don’t get it. Is it some kind of Twitter trend I’m too lemming to understand? Are America and Europe so different? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for calling out racists and sexists, but I don’t think I’ve seen those terms being applied to people for frivolous or far fetched reasons.
Quitted reddit during the great exodus and never came back (well of course apart from when a Google search leads me there for an [outdated] answer). Came to Lemmy, never looked back and never left since then. I plan on being here as long as there’s an instance standing.
Honestly, I’ll vote for them. But they disgust me with all their power struggle about who’s going to be prime minister. In doing so, they’re tearing apart the whole thing. They swore that they wouldn’t betray us. They’re betraying us everyday by showing everybody it’s just a struggle between egos. They’re paving the way for the far right too with this ridiculous display of inflated heads.
I’ll vote for them, then I’ll puke. The only frontliner I’m feeling like supporting in the future is, maybe, Manon Aubry.
