Got this game for free through twitch free games which turned out to be a surprising gem for me:
Dead in Vinland - Turn based group survival management game with some exploration and combat mechanics but the real juice of the game is in the writing and character development.
Story overall is ehhhh but it’s just a stage for the characters you meet :>
The original creators are doing a follow-up!
After the lackluster “sequels” (Star Control 3 and Star Control: Origins) that were made largely without the original developers input, I had pretty much given up the franchise for dead till now.

For those of you not in the know, you can get Star Control 2 for free on Steam and see what the pinnacle of DOS adventure gaming was all about :D

The high seas have you covered matey. Check the wiki in the mega thread at the top 🏴☠️
You telling me the opening montage about the power vacuum in episode 2 wasn’t cool? Because it was pretty goddamn cool :o
I liked most everything else but all the Vi/Caitlyn romance bits felt really stilted. Wish they’d have kept it shorter and more subtle like in season 1.
Nothing like TLC in foot prep to make things taste even better.
As a fan of foot massages, I couldn’t agree more :>
Ah reread you message and you were asking specifically about trivia games. I thought you meant party games in general so I’ll just give you one of my favorites anyways!
Just One! - retails for about 20 bucks but you can DIY this with an online random noun generator and some bits of paper and pencils. This plays best with more than 4 players.
Cooperative game where the basic gist is one person is a guesser and everyone else are cluegivers trying to make him guess the mystery word by writing down a one word clue in secret. The catch is before revealing clues to the guesser, the cluegivers have to compare the clues they write with each other and if any of the clues match (or have matching root words) those are taken out and not revealed to the guesser.
Games are out of a total of 13 words and even a getting 7 out of 13 right on your group’s first go is considered pretty good!
It’s surprisingly fun for such a simple rule set since you have to think of good clues but not necessarily obvious ones that might conflict with other people’s clues. I highly recommend it!
Lot of good ones out there that you could probably DIY but some of them work best at certain player counts. How many people are playing?
This is what happens when you have Y’all-Qaeda running your state 🫠
Season one is great except for the police officer story line. Feel free to skip through those parts, everything else is emotionally hard hitting gold imo. Definitely worth a watch

Maybe they shouldn’t be doing that :>
Haha I think there was one time we played Catan where people started trading futures contracts on someone’s wheat production. It went something like “I’ll sell you this contract for Jimbo’s next two wheat production rolls if you don’t build that road over there.” :>
Hm I wouldn’t have guessed since those are generally considered “family games”. I guess the negotiation aspect of those games can get pretty heated if folks get a bit petty and play kingmaker by giving away all their resources to someone to end the game faster when they find out they’re in a losing position :o
Aren’t they usually called FLGS (Friendly local game store)? Or is yours just decidedly unfriendly? :>
You forgot the greatest one of them all:
Silent Hills: Playable Teaser :>
