Been coding Java for about 15 years now. Pretty much agree - anon’s primary mistake was using javaFX. From a junior dev perspective I can see why they’d do that, but Java isn’t really meant for building desktop applications, it’s meant to power web apps.

What they should have done instead is create a backend restful web service and wire up a frontend rest client with something suited to web app ui dev such as angular or react. Java has some awesome frameworks built for it over the years, something like spring boot would make building that backend service trivial if you know how to use it. JAX-RS/Jersey or even servlets could be utilized for this instead, if you wanted to.

Spring boot has some nice tooling for thread management, but Java also has pretty good options for this built in as well. As chunky mentioned, if you aren’t already versed in concurrency patterns, don’t try to perform concurrent operations or you’re gonna have a bad time. But do learn how to do this, because exploiting concurrency is one of the golden rules of good computing.

I think those leftists who abstained from voting know how this happened, and I’ll give them credit for having principles in a time where principle is severely lacking. Either way, you’re wrong to blame them - Kamala could have won every last one of those votes if she denounced the genocide perpetrated by Israel and announced plans for an arms embargo as soon as she took office, but that was too much to ask for a politician thoroughly corrupted by AIPAC money. The blame squarely lies with DNC leadership for losing yet another election in spectacular fashion.

Other parties have come and gone in the history of the US - now is a great time for an actual populist party to rise up and win voters from all political spectra. It isn’t just Dems who are feeling disenfranchised, and a large enough movement could pierce through the media bubbles on both sides to gain momentum.

It’s time to take an honest look at DNC leadership and ask some difficult questions - why aren’t they interested in doing more to actually win votes? Will they ever learn that pandering to corporations for bribe money is a losing strategy?

Besides, Trump actually got fewer votes this time around than 2020. So your premise is flawed there too. It’s just that Harris and the DNC got way less. Dems lost this one and if you ask me it’s because of their Israel First policy and fierce commitment to ongoing genocide and denial of reality. Couple that with insane inflation directly and negatively impacting people’s material conditions, and somehow Trump was able to pose as the change candidate. Politically, that’s all that matters when the people are miserable.

I’d vote for a 68 y/o Walz, because he’s the type of guy who would push for sensible reforms like age and term limits while in office. Harris is much younger, but you know she wouldn’t dare do something like that because she’s too invested in pandering to establishment donors.

This is really quite simple - they want to remove the few marginal protections offered by ACA. Namely, pre-existing conditions. Republicans believe insurers should not assist you if you are sick but haven’t been paying them for long enough beforehand. Just like these dying pregnant women who are now forced to attempt waiting to give stillbirth instead of get abortions, all of us will have to wait until insurers have collected enough money from us before they will pay their 60-80% to make vital medical care almost affordable.

As a concept, it’s a shit plan. In reality it will be extremely bad for all but the richest among us. America is truly barbaric to its own people.
