  • So, I read the Autobiography of Malcolm X recently and it was such a good compelling read, I checked out Spike Lee’s 1992 movie.

It was alright, you can really see Spikes talents started early, but boy is it long and despite that I still think it should have included more. I feel like we should have seen maybe more of his youth, let that part breathe, and I didn’t really like some of the adaptations for the screen: squashing Sammy the Pimp and West Indian Archie into one role made things weird, chronologically, and I never read Archie as like, a boss to Sammy like that. Likewise, the complete omission of Malcolms blood brothers and sisters is egregious, especially missing is his brother Reginald getting him into Islam -his character gets rolled awkwardly into Bimbi, in prison- as well as his sister, Ella, who plays such a critical role in his life it’s really weird how she’s just not there.

I can’t help but marvel how different things could have been if he weren’t murdered.

  • Wtf, why who wanted this lmfao. I watched about half the first season and it was an entertaining enough gun-jerk, but I had to tap out when the MC started gaslighting the elf girl character into thinking she was her dead elf father. I wouldn’t call it terrible, but what can you do with “and then the modern military utterly washes the huge midieval military state in minutes” and keep it actually interesting?

I guess there was that hilarious scene where the spec ops squads of all the big nations were tricked into killing each other by the JSDF spec ops, over possession of the obligatory loli 500 year old goddess, who was a diplomatic guest of Japan at the time.

  • Yeah, there was a big community event thing, as well as the May the 4th star wars marketing lead to a big resurgence in population since Andor also ended at around the same time. There hasn’t really been a big Stars War game released besides that single player series that I found to be pretty boring, personally.

It’s been an interesting phenomenon watching these franchises kinda sorta fail to capitalize on their own hype by not having simultaneous releases of a new game, thinking back a similar thing happened to Fallout when the TV show came out and everyone found themselves picking up Fallout 4 and 76 if only because they’re the latest in the series even if they’re ages old now in gamer years.

  • My friend got me into their Factorio server and I mostly just watch them build their incredible machine of train and conveyer, but when I play alone I get to feel my brain wrinkling in effort to try and build a nice efficient factory lol

I understand now what everyone said about it, in hindsight. It’s terrific.

Besides that I got caught up in the Battlefront 2 hype wave and have been enjoying that well enough, especially for a game I got for cheap (free? I cannot really recall)

I’ve also been trying to get some friends to try the demo for the new game Jump Ship which is a pretty slick game that mixes so many influences I love in a specific way that appeals to me: a little bit of Sea of Thieves in the coop ship management, a dash of roguelike by making the ‘jump route’, all playing in a comfy Destiny clone FPS system. Glad people are trying to make the coop spaceship command sim I’ve always wanted but now I need friends to play it shrug-outta-hecks
