  • According to some people on the fediverse, the Kagi forum thread that is linked in the toots I posted above and seemingly nowhere else.

From a non political standpoint: I tried Kagi last year and it was ok but I didn’t get the big deal. And because I’m not in the US but the UK if you try searching where’s my nearest garage or stay the nearest result came up as 150 miles away. So it’s one of those things I’ll maybe return to it once it’s developed a bit more

  • Definitely as a millennial I’m of the last generation that will remember arranging to meet up somewhere in advance and sticking to that plan (or rearranging over landline with more than a day’s notice…)

But something I’ve noticed when I ask people in my team what their dream jobs are the younger people tend to say ‘run their own businesses’, ‘work for themselves’ etc. Whereas in our generation (in my circles anyway) that definitely wasn’t so prominent. Maybe a side effect of seeing influencers making it big?

  • VPN subscriptions in the UK will be a lucrative market then for people wanting access to, let’s see, Wikipedia…

I’m interested to know what the Signal President meant when she said she’s much more optimistic about working with the government than she originally was.

The thing is it obviously does come from good intentions, and it’s very rare you’ll find me saying that about something to do with the Tories. But it’s so obviously the wrong approach and yet here we are. Thanks for nothing. Yet again.

  • (I’m assuming we’re talking about this as a hypothetical talking point!)

I don’t think it would be beneficial particularly no because this place is developing its own sort of culture and way of working and Reddit is over there doing its thing.

If Reddit came and federated, I think most places would defederate from Reddit on principle at this point anyway, as they’ve clearly shown that they wouldn’t be making that move out of an interest in the philosophy behind the ‘fediverse’ (we’ve got to think of a better name btw - Febb? Febby? Febbster? Feddy? Freddy?)

But assuming they were let in and were integrated, the increase in trolls, toxic comments, inane communities, would be too much for Febby to cope with and I’d end up leaving, probably asking with everyone else currently here. Reddit is there for people who want it, Febbster is here for people who want it and if people want both they know where to find both.
