I appreciate that you took the time. The long duration of the disturbance is certainly something autistic people (usually) don’t experience.
But the fact that it is cited in the dsm-v does not mean it is true. A couple years back you could not have adhd and autism at the same time it was either or.
Thanks again and a have a good one.
Maybe that shouldn’t be possible.
I really enjoyed reading this. Do you have a blog or something? Have a good one.
Hi there! I‘m not good at pointing out patterns or solutions instantaneously so I‘ll just provide you with the stuff I do. I don’t have adhd to my knowledge but I do struggle with schedules at times.
So, what I do as hobbies to feel better:
As you can see, I‘m totally okay alone and try not to be with people as we tend to hurt eachother. If I need to, I select them individually. I don’t do groups, ever.
I hope this helps.
I agree. I‘d use another example like butterfly swimming. It is achievable through training but unless you really have the time, physique and dedication it is futile. Same goes for autistic people being told to read the room. Most of us lack the required synapses (so to speak) and although we could probably get there by training, it is a skill we don’t need as much as we need to make ourselves food or clean the apartment which also some of us struggle with. So maybe, if we have spare time after learning the other stuff, our much needed downtime, if we feel like it (this is a nicely worded fuck off to the person telling us to learn it).
Good question! I have read about your instance a couple times I think and that kind of makes you a small celebrity in my book. :)
Yo, the db0! Good to see that you feel strongly about this and are (imo) on the right side of the discussion.
I recently joined this place and this post makes me very optimistic about it.
Have a good one
Honestly, this is nothing but rage bait to me. Every person who makes a remark like this should go to jail for a cool 20 yrs. I had an incident last year with a nonprofit I was working with where people were sharing memes of asian chefs (with text bubbles giving them the stereotypical r to l change) serving bats to unknowing western guests… I asked that this practice is stopped and got publicly humiliated for my „unprofessional demeanor“.
I can’t tell you how furious I am about racists.
I‘m a little shocked at the amount of gatekeeping in this community. That was less of a problem on reddit tbh.
We „the autistic community“ have decided that self diagnosis is valid and that is a fact. So lets just not discuss the idea of the boogeyman posing as an autistic person and just accept people.
Thanks and have a great day. :)
There is no design evil enough that not some braindead joke of a person will step up and fight for their favorite company… I really can understand thanos these days.
I‘m 14 and this is deep, linux edition. :)
Can someone please post this stuff on lemmy world in its own thread? This needs to be brought to attention.
The people responsible for this need to then either concede that they have done wrong, leave or otherwise be made to leave.
Quick correction: website scraping and ad blocking is not unlawful. It both is a means to make the web more accessible and the latter also reduces CO2 emission through reducing electricity usage from irrelevant ads. The same case could be made for web scraping as a user can make their own feed of news without having to sift through hundreds of pages. This as well can be done in a way that does not disrupt the pages‘ normal function.
That is where the two larger issues come in:
The „pay for information“ is largely a phylosophical problem. It is no problem to pay for someones book or online course but the blanket statement that one has to pay for it is false. As an open source developer I give my work freely to others and in turn receive theirs freely as well (if they use the appropriate license of course).
We really have two sides forming. The „open internet“ crowd that works together for free or maybe accepts donations and the proprietary crowd which is having a huge influence right now.
Google putting in web DRM will cement that situation and make it possible that you can only use vanilla stuff on your browser and ultimately even shutting down any access to open source things completely by making it impossible to run on ubuntu since google will only accept windows clients (this is a possible outcome, not a guaranteed one).
All in all, we are unable to perfectly anticipate the outcome of this but if we see great harming potential, it is fair to weigh it agains the potential benefits (which is the lofty goal of weeding out bots and scammers). I think the cost benefit relation is heavily tilted here.
TL;DR: Tinkering with your browser is not illegal and should be allowed to continue. The cost of (potentially) weeding out bots and scammers is not worth potentially ruining the open source community.
Could not have said it better. Thank you.
There are more or less serious counterinterpretations like „how to spot you‘re neurotypical“ which turns the thing on its head. Equally hilarious and dystopian.
Have a good one.
You may very well be autistic if you agree with this statement. As do I, an autistic person.
Also, autistic people tend to see patterns very easily and extrapolate without effort:
One possible extrapolation is that it would be better to have autistic people make important decisions of grand scale then neurotypical people.
You could also extrapolate that an autistic whitness is more trustworthy than a neurotypical one.
You could even go as far as saying that neurotypicals tend to be hypocritical as they tend to fight for a cause publicly but undermine it privately if that benefits them.
I could go on for hours but I‘m pretty sure we‘re not allowed to hate on NTs here. I think you can very well see where this is going if you try to assert individual value for mankind.
Additional question: wouldn’t it be cool to have a place where you can only get open source stuff? Obviously there needs to be more to it than this fact i presume but its a start.
