2 days agoNot any word I know about. Chameleons are named Kamelljón (Camel + lion) but that’s just because it sounds like the English word. As far as I know, “kamel” is just loaned directly from other languages.

In Iceland we say both Kameldýr which is similar to the rest of Europe, and Úlfaldi which seems more in line with the Indo-Iranian branch.
