minus-squareCeeBee_Eh@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9arrow-down5·2 days agoI get what you’re saying, but no. The ruling is specifically “woman” means “biological female”, not “everything is a woman”.
minus-squareDanquebec@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up11arrow-down3·2 days agoA baby girl is a biological female.
minus-squareCeeBee_Eh@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6arrow-down2·2 days agoYes. I have a feeling you think you’re saying something different than what I said.
minus-squareDanquebec@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·2 days agoOh, ok. Not a synonym “All women are biological females, but not necessarily all biological females are women.” Got it.
minus-squarePlaidBaron@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4arrow-down5·2 days agoSo a biological female child is a woman per this definition. As OP said.
minus-squareacargitz@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9arrow-down1·2 days agoOnly if you assume that the word “means” defines a symmetric relation.
minus-squarePlaidBaron@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2arrow-down2·2 days agoLaws need to be explicit.
minus-squareacargitz@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·2 days agoI don’t think anything in the ruling hinged on the semantics if the world “means”. That said, there is nothing ambiguous in saying that a logical relation is not symmetric. Symmetry, like reflexivity, transitivity etc, are well defined in algebra.
