Thereā€™s this aura among certain people, usually the neurodivergent, where they believe that whatever is valued in their microcosm is what should be valued everywhere else. They think that any controversy is automatically solved in their favor. They get visibly upset whenever anything is successful that doesnā€™t align with their agenda. To them, itā€™s not about balance. Itā€™s not about diversity or variety. Itā€™s about attacking anyone who disagrees with them untilā€¦ well, they donā€™t stop. Itā€™s incessant. They will brow-beat and tantrum-throw until they get what they want.

These people need to be put back in line. They donā€™t actually care about the art they corrupt; most of them donā€™t even play the games they criticize. Instead, itā€™s about pushing their agenda and making sure anyone who goes against it is silenced (censored.)

Itā€™s up to us, the regular people, to see things for what they are. They will try to drag us down rabbit holes. Their entire goal in life is to make people losers like them so they donā€™t feel so bad about being failures. You know, misery loves company and all that.

Itā€™s sad this is what happened to the digital sphere. Itā€™s shown me that the slippery slope isnā€™t a fallacy when applied to people with an agenda. They never wanted ā€œequality.ā€ They always wanted superiority. ā€œEqualityā€ was just a guise they hid under to gain legitimacy, and now that they have it they arenā€™t stopping.

Glad I didnā€™t waste my money on this hamstrung garbage. Iā€™m glad old games still hold up to this day and are better than most of the trite put out by modern ā€œdevelopers.ā€ Really puts into perspective who the good artists are, and who just wants to corrupt other peopleā€™s art for their own gain.

Itā€™s fine to have gay representation. Even trans representation is acceptable. The problem is that these people want it to be ā€œpreferableā€ to play the game as a gay or transperson. Itā€™s why they praise queer characters but shun any attractive females. They want sex only to sell to ā€œtheirā€ people and no one else. Itā€™s an agenda, but thankfully it hasnā€™t been too successful in changing the landscape.

While itā€™s unfortunate we get these bad games instead of good ones, Iā€™m glad theyā€™re being panned accordingly for the drivel that they are.

Dragon Age: Origins is still one of my favorite game of all time. Really wish we couldā€™ve had a whole series of them, but oh well. At least we got shit.

Edit: The responses to this were to be expected, and of course do not change my views at all. Instead, I think itā€™s very telling of human psychology. Just as with marijuana users who are fine with banning tobacco and other drugs because itā€™s not the drugs ā€œtheyā€ use, we see people who have historically been marginalized and belittled fine with marginalizing and belittling others. It really is bigger than the topic at hand. This is an aspect of most peopleā€™s personas that they have no shame in and make no attempts to overcome.

itā€™s sad. Most people really are shit and enjoy hating others for liking different things.

I did. Are you able to show me where else I can find people saying this on lemmy?

Or really anywhere in the fediverse.

You did, after I asked, but it wasnā€™t part of your original statement. Others have given examples, in steam, YouTube, Twitter. People there complain about diversity in video games all the time. I pointed out your example of your complaint here, because it was topical

So I guess you canā€™t find any examples of people saying this on lemmy?

Or anywhere else in the fediverse?

That was never part of this originally. Letā€™s not change goal posts please

Ahh. Just making sure youā€™re unable to provide examples of people sharing this opinion anywhere on the fediverse.

That was never your original argument though, so changing goal posts means nothing to your point. Iā€™m sure if I went looking I could find examples on the fediverse about people complaining about video games going ā€œwokeā€. That wasnā€™t a premise.

Oh yeah, it doesnā€™t really matter. I was just making sure youā€™re unable to provide examples of people sharing this opinion anywhere on the fediverse.

Itā€™s probably not a very popular opinion if you canā€™t find a single example of someone else sharing it on the entire fediverse.

As i said, I am sure I could, but itā€™s not worth my time. As it was not part of the original premise, I gave your own post as an example. Regardless there have been examples provided of where to find these types of complaints, not on lemmy, because being on lemmy was never part of the premise, until you made it one retroactively
