The former chairman of the Wisconsin Republican Party said Sunday he was ā€œtrickedā€ into signing documents alleging former President Trump won the 2020 election as part of the stateā€™s ā€œfake electorā€ scheme.

Andrew Hitt told Anderson Cooper in a ā€œ60 Minutesā€ interview that he was advised by the state GOPā€™s legal counsel to sign the documents as a contingency, in case the Trump campaignā€™s legal case against Wisconsinā€™s election integrity succeeded.

Hitt said he ā€œwasnā€™t comfortable withā€ Trump campaign attempts to toss out votes in Wisconsin, and that he didnā€™t believe the legal claims of widespread fraud.
