However, this statistic is misleading, because you might expect most people to have 1 gun, and a few people to have more than one to get to that statistic. So the average gun-owner, actually owns from 4-8 guns, while the majority of Americans own 0 guns. We have a culture of gun-obsessed rightwing psychopaths.
As a non-right wing, non-psychopath, I’m uncomfortable with the idea of owning a gun at all.
I don’t want one in my home and I don’t want one on my person. Even if I did purchase one and ended up using it to protect myself, the knowledge that I took a human’s life would be too much for me to live with.

The problem there is the government already has most of the guns and are very, very willing to use them.
When was the last time the military used the guns against its population?

Kent State in '70. The Bonus Army (homeless WWI vets) in the 30s. Blair Mountain (coal miners on strike) and the Tulsa Race Massacre in '21.
