Let me make this clear, Kamala didn’t loose because of third party voters or because of leftists (or even because of Trump supporters). Kamala lost because she offered nothing for the voters and spent her entire campaign courting the support of fascists.

When you people realize it’s not about race or sex, you might have a chance at winning an election. Hell you might even start having left wing views at some point if you can get over your pathetic obsession here.

All the histrionic shrieking we see from US liberals about Trump only works inside a western supremacist worldview that does not see the victims of US warmongering as fully human, and therefore sees scorched earth genocidal atrocities as less significant than comparatively minor abuses concerning US domestic policy.

While I don’t disagree that genocides across the world is something I’m more concerned with than bathroom policies; I am as a transperson still quite concerned with that as well. it’s not like both can’t be important.

I also don’t see any american politics or establishment that would ever aknowledge US warcrimes, genocide supportion or anything similar - wouldn’t any american politician saying america kinda sucks just really lose an election?

not that we shouldn’t abolish the state, MIC and all that shit anyways

Good point, comrade. And internal and external brutalization goes hand in hand. But the US empire is sunsetting, approaching midnight. The race to create alternatives beyond what was yesterday starts today ♥️

It’s not just bloody bathroom policies though. It’s a wide-ranging ban on trans people being able to exist in public. It’s a criminalisation of their existence (“all trans women are drag performers, drag performers aren’t allowed around minors”). It’s a ban on life-saving medical care (HRT). It’s a president that allowed one million people to die unnecessary deaths due to deliberate inaction, and spreading of disinformation. With disabled people vastly overrepresented in that group, who if you’ll remember were the first people targeted and exterminated by the Nazis.

Just because they aren’t dropping bombs to do these things doesn’t make it any less of a genocide. Besides, that would hurt “the good ones” bc the US isn’t segregated the way Palestine is.

What? I’m saying Harris should have opposed the genocide. Also, I would hope that a ‘leftist’ space like liberty hub would be the one place on lemmy where I can say that Harris is a fucking fascist for supporting a genocide that is literally killing my friends

Solution. Let’s kill more people. Like. I don’t want to blame you. I won’t. At the end of the day, it really is harris fault. It’s 100% to blame on the Dems for courting the right and just assuming the left will follow for harm reduction. But couldn’t we have just swallowed our pride and not let trump, the man who will not only genocide the palastinians but will bring that genocide home. It’s not your fault. It’s the dems. I’m sorry for us all.

Yeah I’m truly disgusting for not wanting the US to keep sending bombs that are being used to kill my friends. Harris is disgusting for not promising to do something about a real fucking genocide committed by a US proxy.

My main complaint isn’t Harris, but I reject the notion that Harris was a ‘good’ candidate. If anyone were to suggest any such thing about Trump my response would be the same if not harsher.

I don’t give a shit about voting because I don’t live in the US. The election is over. Criticising Harris wasn’t allowed in most communities because of the elections (but racist remarks towards muslim commenters were allowed for some reason). The election is over, are we now finally allowed to criticise the current US government that is aiding in genocide?

Did it happen due to fearmongring? fear of losing the patriarchy fear of losing white supremacy fear of dying in ukraine for some reason??? (I have at least seen several strange comments that people would die from kamala harris sending soldiers to Ukraine? which seems like just a typical russian bot thing, but maybe people beilive it)

oh yea, and voter supression. It’s most likely that kamala won the popular vote, but it’s not like america is democratic…

Look to the french election, if it was the same first past the post two party system there, then the far-right would be in control, instead - the left wing alliance is the biggest party now.

Harris lost the popular vote. It happened because Dems have no actual idea of what Americans live through, what they’re currently talking suffering through, no idea what they want.

I mean they keep pushing right thinking that’s why Trump won… But it’s simply not. Trump acknowledging American suffering is why. Exclusively.

If one party is telling you you’re stupid and the economy is doing great and you’re better off than you’ve ever been; and the other party is acknowledging you’re actually suffering more than you have in any non pandemic year… You’re going to distrust the first party and give the second the benefit of the doubt, or at least distrust the first party.

If Dems stopped being smug, arrogant, right wing assholes and at least acknowledge the problems Americans face, they’d get a lot more votes. Promising to continue Biden’s terrible domestic policies while lying to the American public about shit the American public is living through… That’s a guaranteed loss.

oh wow, yea seems like he’s leading it pretty far

I’m a european so I don’t know about the democrats saying things are rosy - but trump blaming immigrants, gays and deep state for inflation is pretty stupid - it’s not like he’s going to improve anything?

        I 100% beilive it’s also because harris is a woman - somehow america still hasn’t had one¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To your point on Trump, his supporters are a diverse group, most don’t believe what the media reports on him (see: the media blindly repeating the government’s lie that the economy is doing fine), and those that do genuinely believe it will solve their problems thanks to decades of suffering and not ever being helped by more positive policies.

To your second point, not really. The most misogynist groups believe Harris has been running the country since Biden more or less admitted he was unfit for office. They’ve internalized that a woman is currently president. If a woman wholly unrelated to the Biden campaign came out swinging against biden and Trump while acknowledging the dem party’s failures, she would have won, in a landslide. There would definitely be holdouts, but theyre never going to vote dem.

Americans can’t afford both food and rent, they sincerely do not give a shit about the presidents genitals. As evidence, neither side talked about gender or sex this election cycle. There were no 'are we ready for a woman president’s nonsense articles.

Just objectively a bad candidate, running the second worst dem campaign in modern history, while trying to gaslight people into believing they’re better off than they actually are
