    Disturbingly, there are no federal regulations protecting turkeys and other farmed animals from horrific suffering while on farms

    Is that true!? I moved here a few years ago from the EU. I certainly assumed Canada has them

      It is true. One of the noteworthy consequences is that animals can be shipped in open containers in -30C weather with no food or water. If they arrive all frozen to death, it’s not a crime. There isn’t even a fine. And so of course this is exactly what happens, and they do die.

      Oh, it’s bad. We can acknowledge their sentience, but if they are someone’s property, product or nuisance, anything goes.

      There are so many contradictions with animal protection laws that it makes your head spin.
