Just thought this was a neat find
Sony has stated that the access time will be close to zero, as if you are playing on a cartridge.
LMAO
That bold faced lie stood out to me, as well!
Honestly, it was arguably blazing fast, for what was accomplished.
I know because I had a lot of time to meditate on how fast it was while I waited at loading screens.
I can hear the disc clicking away even now
Back in my day, we didn’t need no fancy raytracing for hyper realism

Can the controller go diagonal?
Aw, that was such a sweet time in video game history.
Very unfortunate placement for the 3DO ad
Ah, babbages, and Software Ect. I remember when video game stores had more competition than just Walmart/Target/Gamestop.
Honestly with how bad Gamestop is doing, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Walmart buy gamestop, and remodel the inside of their stores. So it’s like a store within a store. Kind of like how Walmart has Subway, and Target has Starbucks.
Except Walmart would also OWN the store within a store.
And they could move the freestanding gamestops to always be near Target. I mean I guess you could place them near Best Buy…but thats kind of like kicking an elderly woman with a walker. That is to say, no need to do anything. They’ll die soon enough.
Uhhhh…Best Buy I mean.
The video in this article includes a fun look at some of the Playstation’s limitations, and the lengths to which Crash Bandicoot developers had to go in order to overcome them.
Nintendo’s Project Reality
For those wondering, like I was, this was an early hype-laden codename for what would become the N64.
And, then there’s me, who knew that. Also Gamecube was Dolphin, I used to know Wii and WiiU code names. The switch was the NX.
But if I saw Wii or WiiU codenames again, it would come back to me. I’d be like “Ah, yes, thats right.”
I never knew NES or SNES codenames.
Wii was Revolution. Can’t remember WiiU
I knew it! I knew when I saw it, I’d instantly remember it. That’s totally what it was. Virtual Boy had something with 32 in it I think. Is Project 32 a thing? Something with 32.
They seriously thought doubling the CD’s read speed was going to bring it close to ROM cartridges?
I still have my video game magazines from the 90s. Sometimes I like to read them to see exactly this kind of news.
I remember one saying how the water effect in Unreal was almost real
That 3DO blip on the right makes me sad, it was arguably a better system than the PlayStation but it just couldn’t make it. (I imagine there are reasons, but I still enjoyed playing things like D on it).
This was the dino demo the article mentions:
