There are also some gems in there about how old and constant underplaying the amount of VFX in a film is.

From the video, Stand By Me had a VFX shot (the train bridge scene, of course) but no one was allowed to talk about that. And of course The Fugitive train crash scene had to have “real trains” even though it’s all mostly miniatures.

I’ve been watching VFX Artists React (and all the other variants, animators and stuntmen) since the start and it’s been really entertaining. I’ve been wondering if it’s been worth subscribing to their website as some of the shows are extended.

If you want some classic old school making of material, there was an old Discovery show called Movie Magic which focused on one particular film every episode. Lots of behind the scenes stuff I had never seen before with material from 90s bangers as Cliffhanger and True Lies. Of course, you can find them on YouTube.

They only mention it occasionally so I presume not every show it’s extended. I don’t want to subscribe and watch every single episode again! 😄

Did you watch their “broken portal” video? … pretty neat concept and great execution. And naturally the “making of” is more popular than the actual video.

They try to get as many actual vfx people as they can, and have had quite a few. Veterans much less so because well they’re old I guess … or higher ups now.

They had for instance Gareth Edwards (Rogue One, Creator) on once, and the makers the Foundation TV show. And others.
