Your commentary on the political climate as the reason minimum wage was not set as a living wage requires more than your claim. Here is the question you have to answer were there $0.40 bills that failed (there were), and did they fail because of the $0.40 rate (they did not).

It’s a tool used by Democrats to get votes. They can claim to be helping and that’s all they look for.
Less than 1% of full time employees make minimum wage and their life is tough. Fortunately most don’t stay there very long. Bumping minimum wage pulls down everyone and makes more people have to live a tougher life. I’m convinced that if minimum wage was constantly increased to match “a living wage” we’d end up with the majority of people in poverty.

Minimum was started to keep black people from taking white jobs. It’s why I’ve never been a fan of it.
Minimum wage has not helped as with most new deal policies it has harmed everyone it claimed it would help.
I get the intent of it but the idea of a national minimum wage is just stupid. It solves nothing
