I do not plan to do this all alone but would like to give these projects a good start by setting up the underlying systems well.
I can search all the above but who knows maybe some of you have tips and tricks/resources that others don’t know about
Also, open to any suggestions for the fangames and want to grow them with the community so let me know!! Looking to build out and implement features wanted by the fans for the fans
Currently building out pre-production for the games, documentation, overall roadmap, projects websites, community servers on Stoat, Forgejo for version control, personal account for contacting me on Mastodon mainly, volunteer team for various aspects, covering project updates here on Lemmy/Mastodon/Peertube/etc
Taking various aspects of inspiration from StarCraft and Age of Empires Series for Fallout RTS, and Elder Scrolls RTS (Especially campaigns). Looking at other RTS games for more inspiration as well such as Empire Earth, Star Wars: Empire At War, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, Halo Wars, Warcraft, and Command & Conquer. Open to any suggestions for anything to look at systems, visuals, audio, story, etc wise to make them better overtime
Along with @slazer2au@lemmy.world’s suggestion of checking out what’s available elsewhere, there’s also open source implementations of Command & Conquer games already available! OpenRA is a project that springs to mind first. Also, EA actually released the source code to several C&C games! I think those are all under GPL licenses, but please do double check that.
With only a year of experience programming I don’t know your comfort level, but maybe you can at least find some like-minded people in the communities around those things! Good luck!
That’s actually really cool of them to do whoa. Alright I’ll check out their licenses if they are GPL then I’ll open them up and start figuring what everything does and see what can be useful for the projects. Thanks a lot Jeffool for the words of encouragement and advice!!
