    It is a general rule of thumb in warfare that to engage in an offensive that gains ground, you should outnumber your enemy by at least 3:1.

    In practice, this means that the level of force needed to mount a viable attack is nearly 10 times as large as the level of force needed to mount a viable defense.

    Ukraine has repeatedly demonstrated that it does not have a sufficient force to mount a viable defense.

      not to suggest that Ukraine is in any position to pull off a large scale offensive at this point but this is not true at all
