Yes and this feels like a decent place to articulate something that has been percolating up in my ol’ brain, which is that some might accuse those who viewed his neck-just-doing-that with unrestrained mirth of being desensitized to violence. Not that my reaction was unrestrained laughter, perish the thought, but some people perhaps.
Anyway, I reject the notion that this is desensitization. I am sensitized by the non-stop wave of brutality we have collectively witnessed in Gaza over the prior 2 years, and the RW terrorism against marginalized people here. Like a non-allergic person who gets repeated exposure to an allergen and becomes allergic.
The hate filled propaganda the late Mr. Kirk spewed made him a millionaire I assume, and seeing his final moment it is impossible for me to separate that from the fact that his words and actions contribute to this violence being inflicted on people around the world daily.
