At what cost would the money come?

If I remember correctly The Lateran Treaty requires the Vatican City to remain politically neutral. Allowing American conservatives to influence the church would be a violation I believe. Someone correct me if I’ve got this wrong

“The agreements included a political treaty which created the state of the Vatican City and guaranteed full and independent sovereignty to the Holy See. The Pope was pledged to perpetual neutrality in international relations and to abstention from mediation in a controversy unless specifically requested by all parties.”

This is all from Wikipedia just for transparency sake

That’s how reality is a lot of the time sadly. Here’s how something should work according to what we agree on and here’s what people end up doing

Of course. I just said elsewhere, “Ideals are easier to have than hold.” I’m (hopefully obviously) including myself.

On a perhaps happier (using that loosely) note: an elderly relative is very often coming up with ways to circumvent certain rules of ethics --but ends up abiding by them in letter, if not in spirit. It is progress, so perhaps we’re not irretrievably lost, although we may sometimes think so.

I appreciate your honest engagement. Blessings to you.
