Got my Glock 19 Gen5 MOS and Smith & Wesson M&P Sport III AR-15. Should I build up my kit in other areas now, or should I also get a 12 gauge shotgun?
I would build up enough kit for a battle belt setup. Shotgun can come later if you so feel inclined. Also, spend your money on ammo and training.
Please describe a “battle belt setup.” Thanks!
A stiff belt that can hold, among other things, a handgun holster, pistol/rifle mags, dump pouch, and a tourniquet/first aid kit.
Here is a nice gear guide someone wrote up: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Gx_j9sdzUg-T2SiBxNhhKj5Dor2DlFmYlCGhTatkQAw/edit?gid=0#gid=0
Ammo, magazines, practice, drones.
Practice with FPV drones?
Yes.
With the shotgun?
Nah.
I agree with most everything here.
A solid Medkit/IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) should be your next purchase easily.
Then Battle belt > Survival Gear/Bug out pack > Upgrade to plate carrier/chestrig
But if you think you’re going to pickup hunting or your home defense situation changes, I’d get a shot gun after the Medkit
Also Training + Ammo is always a given.
- ammo and training like others said.
- battle belt can be good to build out.
- medkit and training
- Wayfinding gear.
- some folks use airsoft for fitness and practicing certain skills (kit use, CQB priority of work, etc. - NOT actual marksmanship or enemy scanning). Might be worth looking into.
- shotgun is great device for many situations, so you won’t regret grabbing one.
