Und es GIBT das alles, die Linux-Varianten sind dir nur nicht gut genug - da kann man ja wohl kaum von einer allgemeinen Notwendigkeit sprechen.

Soweit ich das verstehe, geht das prinzipiell schon, aber .dll-Dateien sind Binärdateien und die müssten betriebssystem-spezifisch neu kompiliert werden, und das macht halt kaum jemand. Gibt es, aber im Vergleich zu dem, was es an VSTs z.B. nur für Windows gibt ist das praktisch nichts.

Von mir aus ist es FÜR DICH eine Notwendigkeit, aber du machst hier eine allgemeine Behauptung und argumentierst dann ausschließlich damit, dass du das schon immer so gemacht hast. Das ist nicht logisch.

Ich würde deinen Punkt gern sekundieren, aber ohne die Palette an VSTs, die man gewohnt ist und auf denen man teils über Jahre aufbaut, ist Audio unter Linux aus meiner Sicht nicht mehr als Spielerei.

Bitwig läuft nativ und ziemlich gut unter Linux und das unterscheidet sich im Workflow nicht wesentlich von anderen professionellen DAWs wie Ableton (wenn man nur seine Band aufnehmen will ist auch Ardour voll in Ordnung). Man ist bei den Plugins (VST usw.) deutlich eingeschränkt, aber es gibt genug gute Plugins die auch unter Linux funktionieren - nötig ist es auf keinen Fall, für Musikproduktion Windows oder MacOS zu verwenden. Professionell wird es natürlich schwieriger, weil man da relativ häufig in die Situation kommt, dass man mit Leuten (oder Geräten) arbeiten will, die DAWs oder Plugins verwenden, die nur unter Windows oder Mac laufen - wenn man daran kein Interesse hat, ist aber auch professionelle Produktion kein Problem.

Mit dem übrigen Platz links und rechts kann sowas wie Tree Style Tabs verwenden (Browsertabs auf der Seite als vertikale Liste) oder einfach ein Terminal-Fenster danebenkacheln. Viele Kacheler bieten auch die Option, einzelne Fenster manuell in den Schwebend-Modus zu versetzen.

Und ich würde behaupten, dass die meisten dieser Unternehmen (vielleicht bis auf kommunale Energie-Unternehmen) beweisen, dass das ein Holzweg ist.

TBH I got it specifically to make chip music, in like 2011. Making music on it is pretty cool actually, but while I did try a couple of games on it it didn’t really wow me. Even beyond the outdated technology, I don’t really like playing games that don’t let you quickload, especially when they’re actually kind of hard or generally have a lot of unskippable repetition.

AI is in its infancy, and I’m pretty sure a lot of AI services are sold below cost right now. This situation could change drastically if the monetization model changes. On that note, AFAIK YouTube, which hosts much of the content that small creators produce, still isn’t profitable.

I found that LO doesn’t auto-capitalise first letter after line breaks but only after end of sentences, something Word has been doing as long as I can remember, LO argument is that only a . and ! characters mark the end of a sentence in “proper English”. line breaks don’t qualify as a proper end of a sentence for them.

Why would you even want that? It’s dangerous to change written text automatically, a lot of people will be annoyed because they wanted exactly what they wrote. Capitalizing after . or ? makes enough sense to automate it because of grammar rules, but there’s no hard-and-fast rule for capitalization after line breaks.

Only console I ever got was the original Game Boy. But I’ll definitely upgrade my PC at some point, there’s only so many games I actually like and I don’t think I’ll be content just never playing the next Baldur’s Gate 3. I’ll have to upgrade my PC anyway at some point just for regular PC things, might as well buy a new GPU, too.

I might consider stopping when there’s some new ubiquitous gaming technology that I’m just not into (e.g. I still haven’t tried a VR game and I’m not keen on changing that anytime soon).
