I didn’t say to organize and operate a paramilitary force. If I am armed, am I a one man militia somehow? And even if I had said to create a militia, you never actually responded to a single point made in this entire thread.

You have said gangs and militias are bad. You haven’t provided any actual thoughts or reasoning. You haven’t recommended alternative ways to resist a government stripping away rights or how to defend against the far right that has shown time and again that it is happy to violently oppress people just for their audacity to exist.

  • My answer was that armed minorities are harder to oppress. Did I say militia? I don’t think I ever even implied militia. I did say that the capability to be violent makes non-violence more effective.

Maybe you should read up on the civil rights movement, or some of the fights for queer rights. It might give you some perspective.

Or just stop the bad faith trolling.

  • At least make an attempt to have a rational debate. The second sentence from your own source seems rather relevant. “The association’s primary purpose is to engage in criminal activity and the use of violence or intimidation to further its criminal objectives and enhance or preserve the association’s power, reputation, or economic resources.”

If you want to cower and hide that’s fine. But don’t ask questions like this if you don’t intend to listen to any of the answers.

  • Its not inflammatory or bad faith. Malcolm X was a civil rights leader during a time that black Americans were being targeted. He believed in armed resistance to oppression. So was his resistance just gang activity?

Just saying that being armed is gang activity is either willfully and dangerously naive, or it’s a bad faith attempt to derail a discussion.

A contributing factor for the effectiveness of MLK Jr’s peaceful resistance was the existence of armed groups that were aligned with his goals.

I’m not saying anyone should be violent. I’m saying that being armed and having the capability for armed resistance can strengthen peaceful resistance, and increase the likelihood that the vocal minority won’t be able to continue stripping away rights.

The start of a global queer movement was a demonstration at Stonewall that the queer community could violently resist oppression. It led to a shift in the narrative and a change in the movement.

Were the stonewall riots a gang activity? Was Malcolm X just a gangster? Should a corrupt government and the extreme right have a monopoly on the use of force?

  • Nuclear submarines typically refers to the powerplant, though for the US that is pretty redundant since all active US sub’s are nuclear. Many or all of those subs are capable of carrying nuclear weapons though. The US historically has tried to not talk too much about where they have nuclear weapons deployed. This regime may not have that level of discretion, and honestly probably doesn’t actually know what nuclear submarine even means.

As for the rest, they are literally out murdering people in international waters to distract from how dog shit their government is.

  • The book is wonderfully written, and actually fairly insightful from a disaster preparedness and policy standpoint. It’s been a while since a read it so forgive me if the details aren’t exactly correct. Its written from the viewpoint of a journalist traveling the world post zombie apocalypse. He is collecting stories from survivors of various major events that happened during the zombie outbreak. Each chapter details a different event conveyed by a different witness, so it’s not a cohesive single plot story. More like working notes of someone preparing to write a history of a major global disaster. It highlights some of the mistakes made and lessons learned as events unfolded.
