I went in completely blind and was completely blown away. The quality is just too good for a TV Series.
The 3D Animation is pretty similar to Spiderverse although not as polished. But it looks really good and where the show really shines is the perfect 3D->2D switch. The 2D Animation is very good and constantly changes between different artstyles as well which is just so peak.
And the soundtrack is handled by Hiroyuki Sawano which is as goated as every other Sawano soundtrack.
The story structure is not exactly as good though since it’s supposed to have individual stories of 10? heroes instead of focusing on one character. So more like late One Punch Man. But the current arc for Nice has been pretty good so far and I’m excited about the next episode.
This anime has basically replaced Solo Leveling as the mindless yet excellent quality hype anime.
And yeah, this is from China which is great to see. The potential of future Chinese Donghua industry is insane.
The animation alone makes it feel weird calling this anime, though ig it is technically a donghua, not anime. It looks so much like Arcane with a hint of Spiderverse
We might be due for a word to encompass eastern animated shows tbh. “Cartoon” is too broad and “anime” is still considered to refer to Japanese animation specifically
We oughtta stop using nation-specific genre tags in general, or at leas texpand them to describe a style.
Like Avatar TLA is anime. Undertale is a JRPG

Extremely different style, it’s a single overarching story rather than individual episodes. Mostly drops the themes of the first season as well to become a cop mystery/action show.
Is this a trend with donghua? TBHX has previous seasons too which are nothing like this one apparently.
