Probably too many insurmountable issues with filming like this during a race but would certainly add something extra.
The best shot I’ve ever seen of an F1 lap, between that straight line race with Coulthard, that dry lap with Lawson and that wet lap from Verstappen, I’m floored!
I know it’s just another red bull PR video, but this was really cool to watch
Wicked. Would be cool to see such shots live one day.
They tried it a couple years ago at Barcelona I think it was. It really didn’t work, looked shit and ruined the experience tbh.
It didn’t last more than a couple races.
The tech had improved considerably.
I just finished watching this and it truly is amazing. The speed and endurance of the drone is crazy. Plus the shots there were able to get were simply lovely. I’d love to have some of these shots during an actual race but I know it’ll never happen due to safety regulations with the crows and everything in case the drone crashes. One can only dream.
Drone shots are cool but they kinda kill the sense of speed of the cars. One of the best shots I’ve seen in recent years was a static camera with a wide angle shot of the cars going through maggots and becketts. The speed which they carried and the neck breaking changes of direction was an incredible sight. Similar was the ground camera looking up at eau rouge/raidillion. If you match the speed it’s hard to truly appreciate how fast these cars really are in comparison with other series.
