For companies in Springfield and in nearby communities that depend on Haitian labor, Trump’s comments could prove damaging. The Haitians who filled thousands of jobs at area packaging and auto plants have helped rejuvenate once-blighted neighborhoods and contributed to the local economy in myriad ways.

“I pay thousands of dollars in income and property taxes every year,” said Payen, “and – because I work with Haitians to file their taxes – I see their W-2s and so on. If these people leave, that money is gone from the city and the local economy.”

Looks like the city is gonna get rusty and decay again. I wish Haitians the best of luck in finding new homes, jobs, and starting new businesses elsewhere.

Oh, well see the good news is, they don’t care and will face exactly zero consequences for their actions. Why? Because in the popular vote, America overwhelmingly said that this is what they want. They chose this.

I choose to blame America as a whole for the next 4 years. Sure it’s easy to blame Vance, and Trump…but here’s the thing. If Trump ran his campaign, and America said “Ew, no!” And then Trump forced his way in? Yeah, ok. That I would then blame Trump. But he ran his campaign.

In my eyes he ran it poorly. He got onstage and spread obviously blatent fearmongering. He downright admitted he had no plan. Only elements of a plan. He openly said that if he wins, there’s no need to ever vote again. He openly said that he plans to put down any “enemy from within” using the military if need be. He openly and proudly claimed his campaign will deport mass amounts of immigrants.

For anyone paying attention to history, this is NOT a new playbook. This is straight up the facist playbook.

I was NOT a fan of Bush from 2000-2004. I openly said (at the time) that he was the worst president our country would see in my lifetime. I never called him a facist however. He never fit the bill for being fascist. He was corrupt, and a liar, and a warmonger, and evil…but not a fascist.

Trump is absolutely a fascist. He wasn’t a warmonger in his first term, but I suspect he will be in his second. This time he has the full support of the government. He can do whatever he wants, and his campaign was basically alluding to that fact.

And America said yes. THAT’S the take away here. America could have said “Fuck no. This is no land of fascists.”

      They chose not to.
